About Paisa Trail
A free, no-paywall look at how India's biggest listed companies actually make money — read straight from the results they file with the exchanges.
The one question
Most finance sites tell you where a share price is or hand you a wall of ratios. Paisa Trail asks something simpler and, we think, more useful: what does this company do, and where does its money come from? The financial figures are here to answer that question — they aren't the product themselves.
How it works
Every quarter, companies file segment-wise revenue and results with NSE and BSE in a structured XBRL format. We read those filings, pull out the segment breakdown, cost structure and margins, and lay them out so the shape of a business is obvious at a glance — including the stacked “revenue anatomy” strip on every company. The full detail of what we do and don't compute is on the Methodology page, and unfamiliar terms are explained in the Glossary.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants to understand a business rather than trade it — students, curious investors, journalists, and people who just want to know how a company they use every day earns its living. No account, no paywall, no tracking beyond what's needed to serve the pages.
Sourcing & honesty
All figures come from primary-source regulatory filings and are attributed as such. The site is built as a static site and refreshed monthly. Everything here is for educational use only and is not investment advice. If a number looks wrong, it may be a parsing edge case — please flag it, since getting the filings right is the whole point.
Coverage starts with the Nifty 50 and grows from there.
